Tick.
Tock.
Tick.
Tock.
It was getting late, and he knew it. Of course he knew it. He was sat watching the time fly by as he slowly downed a small bottle of beer. He’d been drinking it for an hour now but the dark liquid didn’t seem to be going anywhere. Just like he didn’t. Yes, that’s what it seemed like all the time. It seemed like the young Montague heir would make nothing of himself. Would get no where. But he didn’t care, or, at least he didn’t seem to care. But then again, everyone always assumed everything about him. They always thought they knew him. That was of course a lie.
Few people did know him, and it was those few the young man was happy with. Benvolio was his cousin and trusted friend, the one he’d kill for. Mercutio was perhaps his best friend. His closest at least. He loved the other, in a straight way of course. Christ! It wasn’t like he was gay or anything! After all, he was in love with Juliet. Juliet, his sweet, sweet Juliet. Oh, how he loved her. He couldn’t imagine his life without her. Never in a million years. Everyday he felt sure his love for her grew stronger.
So much stronger. He’d say it to himself every second of every day. Ever since he met her. He always reminded himself he loved her, not wanting to dwell on his unrequited love. Not wanting, for once in his life, to carry on the love he felt for someone. No, he wanted to only love Juliet. If he had Juliet he knew for sure his world would be perfect. If he could end this hatred between their kinsmen he would be respected. He’d have ended years of anger and hurt.
He wanted to be the one who set things right. He and Juliet of course. He couldn’t do it without her. A soft sigh lid through his lips as he dropped the bottle to the floor, it smashed, it’s content splashing everywhere, soaking his tight black pants. He jumped to his feet with a loud curse. Why had he dropped it! God, he was an idiot sometimes. An idiot who was now covered in some alcoholic beverage, he wasn’t even sure what he’d been drinking now. He groaned as he looked around himself before worming his way around the glass on the floor.
He was going to pay for this, he could tell. He always paid for things he did. Though rarely straight away. A scowl formed on his face, making the young rich boy's brows furrow. "MERCUTIO! I think I'd best get going!" He called over to his friend, aware of how drunk he was becoming as they sat in their usual place by the beach.

Post by ROSALINE MAY CAPULET on Feb 7, 2010 19:22:35 GMT
Rosaline knew she shouldn't be here. It was Montague territory, of course, but that was only the beginning. Even if she'd been walking into neutral ground, she was doing it for a foolish reason; seeing him. That was her one motive for turning up at Sycamore grove tonight, the only reason she was out here risking her neck. If any of the drunken teens hanging around here recognised her, she'd be done for. A wildly out numbered Capulet with no good excuse to be in Montague territory, and with all those around her in varying states of inebriation. And all because there was a slim chance that he would be here. Romeo Montague. Rosaline didn't even know what she was planning to say if he was around. "Hi there Romeo, I know I always say that you disgust me, but I felt like putting myself on the line just to pop over for a chat" wouldn't exactly work now would it?
The blonde made her way through the now dwindling crowd and as more and more people decided to call it a night, Rosaline started to worry that Romeo had left already. If he had, it would have been a wasted journey. Still, she thought as she re-adjusted the mask she'd borrowed from Juliet, at least then I won't have to worry about what to say to him. A guy stumbled in her direction, grinning widely, and Rosaline backed away slightly, thinking maybe she'd been recognised. But it was okay- he just slurred something at her about having a drink with him and waved a two-thirds-emptied bottle of vodka at her. Rosaline let out a haughty snort of laughter, shaking her head. "No thanks." she muttered, before continuing her search. If that was his idea of a chat-up line, then Romeo really was the best the Montagues had to offer. And Rosaline only wanted the best. She'd moved along to a slightly more secluded spot now, and the drunken shouts of the remaining Montagues seemed distant. There were still a few people sitting and standing around here, of course, but the mood seemed much more subdued. Rosaline quickly scanned their faces in search of someone familiar, but gave up after a few moments and sat down defeatedly. If she was honest, she wasn't really sure she did want to see Romeo tonight. It had been stupid and reckless of her to come out here. What if she'd been spotted? What if Tybalt or her parents had followed her and now thought she was a traitor to the Capulets? Romeo was just a boy, for heaven's sake, and a Montague boy at that! Who cared if he'd suddenly lost all interest in her? Why did it bother her so much that he had finally backed off? Wasn't that exactly what she'd wanted. would have been nice to know why, though. She thought bitterly, snagging a bottle from the feet of the guy nearest to her. From what she could see of his face out of the corner of her eye in the darkness, he was pretty out of it and probably wouldn't notice. Roz knew she shouldn't really be drinking, not after she'd done so well quitting, but one couldn't hurt; it wasn't like she was a recovering alcoholic. As she took a swig from the bottle, the boy she'd swiped it from dropped his own and jumped up, swearing loudly. Rosaline blinked up at him in surprise as a passing car's headlights illuminated his face. "Romeo.." she whispered under her breath, stunned. It had been a long time since she'd seen him, and he looked even more incredible than she'd remembered. Roz giggled softly as she watched him grumble at the wet-patch that had now appeared on his pants, feeling instantly better just for setting eyes on him. But then, he shouted something about leaving and she jumped involuntarily to her feet, surprising herself a little with the sudden movement. She just... didn't want him to go yet. Rosaline blushed behind her mask, feeling the attention of the people around fall onto her. "I.... Hi." she mumbled awkwardly to Romeo, hoping no one would see through her rather flimsy disguise.[/blockquote]

Romeo was ready to stumble away after his yell to his friend, drunkenly oblivious to the girl next to him. Had he noticed her he would've completely changed, the air about him and his current attitude. His attitude was currently arrogant seeming, currently he was only half there. But half-there was more than enough to get him to recognize Rosaline as she jumped up and spoke. His head turned to look at her intently before his body completed the turn, frowning.
He stared at her for a moment before finding his voice once more. "R-rosaline..." he stammered slowly, softly. He stared at her for a moment before looking down at his sodden pants feeling awkward. "You shouldn't be here. Especially not this late, it's not safe amongst these Montague's..." he mumbled.
This was awkward. He couldn't handle this. He still had feelings for Rosaline, despite his insane love for Juliet. It was odd, it was immoral, but Romeo never stopped loving people. It hurt to live still torn between the two girls. However, he knew it had to be Juliet who he married. Juliet or no one. he didn't care what his family had to say about that matter.
Not even Rosaline declaring her undying love for Romeo could make him change his mind. He was set on it. Juliet would be his forever. He was sure of it. He loved her more than anything in this world. But then, Juliet had never come here -- at least not so late at night. Looking towards Mercutio, wishing for the other to come and help him from the awkward situation he was trapped in, he sighed.
He knew he couldn't avoid everything so looking back to Rosaline he dried his hands upon the area's of his smart pants that hadn't been hit by the drink before slipping the hands into his pocket. He rocked on his feet slightly as he looking at Rosaline, trying to think of a reason why the other would be here.
Currently, his state of mind -- caused by the intake of alcohol -- couldn't place a sane reason as to why she would be there. A frown marred his face. He was becoming frustrated with himself for his lack of ability to think clearly. that was the only thing he hated about drinking. "Uhh... why are you here...?" he asked, tilting his head in a confused manner as he stared at her.
