The rain hammered against the windows of the restaurant as Rosaline weaved her way through the tables collecting empty cups and plates after the lunchtime rush. By the time she'd reached the kitchen, the stack of plates in her arms was so large that she struggled to see over the array of mugs sitting at the top of it. Sighing heavily, she set the tower of cheap china down on the counter beside the dishwasher, slowly loading it as she listened to the loud pattering on the roof. Roz loved rain. She didn't really know why, and people often looked at her strangely when she mentioned it, but for some reason it just made her happy. She'd have given almost anything to go walking in it right now; to feel the cool droplets of water on her bare arms and shoulders, tip her head back and let it wash over her face. But today was Saturday, which meant one thing and one thing only. Work.
Stuffing the last of the cutlery into it's proper compartment, Rosaline groaned softly to herself and slammed the dishwasher closed. She hated this job. She was in every evening after school, with the late night shift on Friday nights, and back in all day Saturday. Only Sundays Rosaline had off, and even then she was up early for church. Admittedly, that part was her own choice. A year ago, Roz had found God and ever since she'd made sure to attend the loal Church for morning services, even despite the fact that more than a third of Friar Lawrence's congregation were either Montagues or Montague sympathisers. That was when Romeo had first started chasing her. To begin with, Rosaline had found him irritating and childish- she'd even opted to wear a purity ring in an attempt at warning him off, but nothing seemed to work and recently... well, he'd begun to wear her down. Not that she was planning to admit to it any time soon.
Sighing, Rosaline made her way back out into the dining area, twisting her purity ring as she did so, and came to a halt in front of a table where a new customer had just been seated. "Welcome to Milano's, are you ready to order?"
she asked, flashing a polite smile as she delved a slender hand into the back pocket of black skinny jeans to retrieve her notepad, the other hand moving to her ear to pluck the pencil from behind it. No matter how much Rosaline hated her job, she always tried to be cheerful. After all, it was hardly the customers' fault that her boss was a dragon, was it? And besides, most of the patrons here tended to be Capulets, or at the very least, neutral. It was rare to get anyone in here who was with the so-called "enemy", which according to Roz' uncle meant that she had to be respectful to everyone she served. For all the owner insisted he was the only one who gave orders to his staff, everyone who passed through the doors of Milano's knew they were in territory governed by Capulet and Capulet alone. The blonde tucked a stray strand of hair, which had fallen from it's ponytail, behind her ear and smiled sweetly at the lone diner, waiting for them to speak. "...Well?" she sighed, trying to fight off the hint of impatience from her voice.

- - - chandler really just needed to get out of this damn house. having no job meant a lot of free time, something she kinda of hated because it meant having to spend her time with her parents. she was eighteen and with no direction, she felt a little unless. she wished she knew where she was going and this uncertainty scared her, if anything, she kind of wanted to become a musician, well, she was one, but she wanted to earn money doing it, she wanted people to pay money to go to one of her concerts, she wanted someone to invest in her music and of course, she wanted people to feel something because of her music. she wished her parents could just support her for once, but they kind of never did, they wanted her to be a stay at home daughter who would eventually become a stay at home wife. something she never could be. as much as she loved romance and as much as she wanted to be the typical girl in a relationship, she did not want to be a typical damsel in distress constantly. she certainly didn't want to stay at home all day and make the dinner and be a good little servant. no, that just wasn't her. she wanted someone who was loving and who she could just connect with, she might find him, but knowing her luck, he'd be on the wrong freaking side. - - - finally deciding to leave this damn place, she grabbed her bag and left without her parents coming back to question her, she was already out the door before they noticed. it was when she got out from under the large porch that she realised, it was raining. she couldn't go back now and get an umbrella or her mother would question what she was doing going out in the rain. no, instead she would just go to the first place she came to. turning the neck up on the collar of her jacket, she briskly walked through the streets of verona. she was about to dart into one of the closest places, then she realised, that was the globe, not a good idea, swarming with montagues and if a capulet saw her walking in there, she would be even more dead. she quickly avoided it, plus if a montague she was friendly with started talking to her, she would be in even more trouble. no, safest place right now would be somewhere that didn't have montagues, a place run solely by capulets. she grinned to herself, she was pretty hungry and milano's did the best italian food in the world. she nodded to herself and almost ran through the streets to get there. - - - opening the door which was quickly taken by one of the workers who greeted her with a polite smile. they knew her in here, why wouldn't they, her parents were like best friends with the capulet parents and she was in here quite a lot with juliet and rosaline, well, when rosaline wasn't working. they sat her down in one of the spare seats and she looked over the menu as she waited to be served. as she waited, the little brunette went off into her own little world, she was just day dreaming of something that she wished could happen. she didn't like to see herself as a daydreamer, but it happened a lot, she would always be staring off into space. people just thought she was a realist because of her family, but no, she was an out and out dreamer who was currently thinking of a certain montague boy, one that caught her eye the first time she saw him, one that get mixed up in these wars but truly doesn't belong there. "well?" she looked up quickly and little shocked, she hadn't noticed anyone standing there. "ah! so sorry, erm..." she said, a little thrown back in a little hurry. she then looked up again and grinning slightly. "rosaline! ah, didn't know you were working today, what a coincidence!" she said beaming slightly. yeah, sure, she was hungry, but she wanted to see her good friend first. once upon a time, dearest chandler went for a walk and ended up on the fair grounds of milano's where she encountered rosaline, a fair friend. it took her around six hundred and ninety four to finally finish what she had to say to her. she was wearing the most darling outfit which she dressed in to impress her. she knew this day was going to be fun but she could only thank jamie for the graphics. all there is to say now is; yay ^^

Rosaline hated this job. I mean, really hated it. Milano's was just another of her uncle's ways to show his power in Verona Beach, to display the Capulet family's wealth. Another extension for his ego. And, worst of all, it was another reminder of why she couldn't let herself love Romeo. No Montagues came here. That was as good as law, as far as the two families were concerned. Law that could be punished by death. But then, the same went for Capulets who strayed onto Montague territory, and it hadn't stopped Roz from turning up at Sycamore Grove the night before. It gave her a warm sense of pride to look back on it, knowing she'd managed to get in and out of the lions' den without so much as a scratch on her. Even though she didn't yet have her feelings under control, it was nice to feel like as had at lease some power over her own life. Despite knowing that it was all really in her uncle's hands.
It was with a heavy sigh that she made her way to the newly occupied table, and Rosaline's head was so full of spiralling emotions of resentment and pride that she hadn't even registered who the customer was. Until she spoke, anyway. God, Chandler must have been wondering why she hadn't given her a more friendly greeting. The stoic, almost cold "Welcome to Milano's" had probably made her sound so stupid. Shaking her head a little, Roz flashed Chan the brightest smile she could as a way of compensating for the way she'd just been acting. "Chandler!"
she beamed, "It's good to see you, it's been way too long.". Rosaline took a quick glance around the mostly empty restaurant, before taking the seat opposite Chandler and calling over to her boss that she was taking her break now. They weren't busy, he wouldn't mind. Besides, he wasn't about to pick a fight with his boss' niece was he? "Uh... I always work Saturdays? I thought you knew that..Oh well," she frowned, in answer to the comment about not knowing she'd be here, "what're you here for, if it's not to visit me?". Rosaline had a feeling that Chandler wasn't just hungering after a late lunch of pasta or pizza. Recently, both herself and Juliet had been getting the "you need to learn how to be a good wife" talk a lot from their parents, and with that in mind, it wasn't hard to guess what was bothering Chan. Roz's surrogate sister was a few years older than herself, so if she'd been getting an earful about marriage, she knew Chandler definitely would. It sucked, and Rosa was more than happy to be there if Chandler needed to vent. After all, the William girl had been there for her countless times in the past when she needed someone to talk to about... well, everything.

- - - chandler had little secrets of her own to keep. it was silly, if these girls just came clean about their lives, it could all be a little easier. she might have been a bit of a hypocrite, after all, rosaline had told her about romeo and she had replied with the ideas that she shouldn't go after romeo, she should find someone else to put her affections on or something to that effect. in reality, this capulet was breaking away from the pack, she was befriending montagues secretly and she had in fact fallen in love with a montague, not that she was going to tell anyone that. she would be interested in telling her mother and seeing her freak out, telling her how she was supposed to settle down with a nice capulet boy, how she was supposed to marry tybalt and most of all, how she has shamed the william name. not that she cared about the name, or anything else, all that mattered to her was being in love, she wished for just once she could tell him how she felt, but being friends was bad enough. - - - smiling at her lovely friend, she nodded. "yeah, it has been too long! i blame our parents," she said with a little chuckle. she wasn't exactly one to hide her hatred for her mother, she kind of hated the way she was treated by her mother and everyone knew it. her mother was pushing her and she wasn't going to take it much longer, she just wanted to be out of this town so she could fall in love with all she wanted to do. it was pretty empty here and it should be pretty cool to just hang out here for a little while, after all, rosaline now had her break and chandler, well, she never had anything to do, no one ever cared, she was being taught to be a house wife, according to her mother, she didn't need a job. she wished that she could spend more time with her friends, but they tended to have job and therefore never free, so that meant that she would spend her time with the unemployed, mainly the montagues. it was a vicious cycle that the poor girl was stuck in. - - - looking at her friend for a moment, it finally clicked as she smiled. "oh yeah! i totally forgot you worked here," she said with a little sheepish grin. it was an under statement to say this girl was a little forgetful and silly. it wasn't her fault in some ways, she was just a little too sheltered because of her father's wealth, but when it came to her being a friend, she was the best there was. she cruised the menu quickly, but decided to order after they spoke, that was just a bit rude. "i came here for lunch, but it was mainly to get away from my mother," she said a little bitterly. her mother was kind of suffocating her, and not in the loving way. she wished she could just play music and be herself, but she just wasn't allowed. "i think she's hoping i am married to your brother within the year," she said, rolling her eyes lightly. "don't get me wrong, your brother is a nice enough guy, but my heart doesn't long for him," she said, trailing off slightly, not really wanting to give away too much. in reality her heart was being torn apart by two people, none of which she can mention to anyone. once upon a time, dearest chandler went for a walk and ended up on the fair grounds of milano's where she encountered rosaline, a fair friend. it took her around five hundred and ninety one to finally finish what she had to say to her. she was wearing the most darling outfit which she dressed in to impress her. she knew this day was going to be fun but she could only thank jamie for the graphics. all there is to say now is; ^^
